What do employees think about HR?

If you think HR is all about hiring and firing, you are absolutely wrong! The role of an HR manager is much more complicated than that. They had to deal with a lot! But no matter whatever they do, they’ll be getting hated by their employees for sure! The HR team should actually provide some equilibrium between the management and the employees. They are the link that connects both the team. But unfortunately, they are not capable of creating a bond with their employee. This “out of sync” communication makes the employees hate their HR Manager. 95% of the employees think that there is no use in talking to their HR when there is a problem. Most of the employees feel that it could backfire them if they open up with their HR regarding their workplace problems! Now, where do you think the problem is? Is it with the HR? Or is it with the employees? This is why we need a consolidated study on this topic! First, let’s check what employees really feel about their HR!

HR is invisible

According to employees, HR sits miles away. This creates a rift in between them. Most of the employees think that there is not much work in the HR department as their works are hidden or confidential. This is degrading the value of HR.

Trust Issue

“Over 50 per cent of employees from every company says that they don’t trust HR at their current workplace.”

Employees feel reluctant to share their work problems to their HR Managers. Some of them even feel that it would harm their career if they share problems with their HR. A recent survey conducted among 18 tech giants makes it visible. A total of 59% of employees working in LinkedIn voted that they do not trust their HR! Apple, the world’s most valuable company, still had 72% of its employees not trusting HR. In such cases, nobody can take actions. These data revealed by employees can be tampered by the HR department itself.

Gives Advice, Takes no Action!

An employee when they raise a complaint against something or someone gets free advice from their HR. Only a few employees get solutions for their problems. This makes them feel unsatisfied regarding their problem. This will tamper the trust factor. And mostly this makes the employee feel like it is useless to talk to their HR while facing a problem.

HR is just a hype

“HR department is just a hype shaped by fancy corporate companies”

A major number of employees think that it is a fancy thing to have an HR department in their company. This ideology exists mostly among small and mid-level companies. Since HR is not directly contributing anything to the business, employees are not even bothered to consider them as their colleague! According to these employees, HR is the one who hires and fires! There is nothing beyond that!

Lack of responsiveness from HR at the right time is one of the major issues for all these conceptions. It is all about creating connections and productivity. This needs balance. This balance will make the company “employee-friendly”! Workforce sometime hates HR because, at times, HR seems absolutely ignorant to an escalating dilemma while remaining super-attentive to hypercritical over negligible issues. So, now again, the question is, how to sort this out??!!!

Put on a Face!

Instead of being invisible, instead of being faceless, HR should put a face! Interacting more with the employees can make them feel good about you. HR should study their employees individually and act accordingly to create a better environment!

No phone, No Emails

HR should interact directly with the employees, except for those things that need documentation! Telephonic/ mail interactions can make the employee-HR relationship more formal compared to that of a direct conversation. This is useful in building trust with your employees. More than that, the employees will consider you as a friend than that of an HR manager.

Direct answers

The HR department is known for its indirect replies. They won’t respond immediately to their employees in several cases. Ditch this habit and you are almost set. Employees when they receive immediate reactions and solutions for their problem feel like they are getting considered from their management and HR team. This can improve employee loyalty and responsibility.

Engagement

Sometimes it is essential to create a team spirit. When the employees are feeling low, HR should notice it and do something to boost it up. No one is gonna say about things. No employee would go to HR and say that our team spirit is losing, we need something interesting! HR should identify it at certain times and make tweaks accordingly. All you have to do is to create some engagement sessions. HR can connect it with the management and initiate fun games or interactive events in the workplace. HR can organize events and gift employees based on their performances. It’s even possible to gift something that shows a strong message printed on the product.

Building a better relationship is somewhat tedious, especially for HR, balancing both the management and the employees. But with some tweaks, this is manageable!
