Health experts believe that the pandemic may still be with us during the holidays. So the only possible option is to follow the  recommendations to stop the spread, and do whatever is possible to enhance the fun of the holiday season. Put on your creative caps to come with some great holiday ideas as you have still a lot of time to plan.

You can even substitute the purely traditional way of observing events  with an innovative way of celebration that meets the stipulations of the new normal world. Minor tweaks and creative ideas will go a long way in making the holidays happen!

Here are some ideas that can be worked out our holiday season might look, under the worst-case scenario.

Halloween

Traditional trick-or-treating could pose risks in the current scenario; but you can still organize small community gatherings and family events.  Big parties are out of question as kids are more susceptible to the germs than adults and letting them out for trick or treating in groups could be risky.

We may not see the traditional trick or treat revelers foraging every home for their Halloween gifts this year. Home owners can still  leave a bowl of candy at the end of their driveway and get dressed up in their Halloween costumes to wave at the  neighbors from their front stoop to create a Halloween experience the best way possible.

Thanks giving

The likelihood of a big family dinner and the lavish turkey fare  may not happen in its magnanimity this year. You can plan a potluck type of an event for your family or friends where everyone can cook a dish and drop off food at other houses. It will give an opportunity for everyone to see  each other  briefly  while enjoying a holiday meal.

You may need to just put on the mask, and curb the temptation of  inviting the entire neighborhood over for the thanksgiving party. You can still hold a small holiday gathering for  your extended family or friends with whom you continue to socialize even in the pandemic times. It is recommended not to party with people whom you don’t know.

If you were planning to attend Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, its fate remains unknown, it is likely that most Americans may only see it on TV this year. So, make some alternate arrangements in your community to keep up the fun.

For businesses, handing out customized Thanksgiving gifts will be the best way to show their gratitude towards their clients and employees for their support in this difficult time.

Black Friday

The  shopping frenzy of Black Friday will largely be confined to online platforms. The holiday shoppers may have to think of getting all their gift packages in the mail for your friends and family if not in person.

Christmas

As in other holiday events, for Christmas too large family gatherings or big holiday parties may not be on cards. How about celebrating Christmas or Hanukkah at Mom and Dad’s or with your in-laws to make some great holiday memories. We may see more of smaller intimate groups that includes just the close family members this year.

Buffet dinner may have the risks of shared cutlery and the long trail of touch points. It can be avoided  by planning a sit down dinner complete with butlers to serve food. This will ensure that fewer people are touching the same spoons.

Nothing says Christmas like shopping and Christmas gifts. You can still get the tree ornaments , goodies and gifts for your clients, family or friends online without risking infection in the event of the virus scare continuing unabated.

When it comes to outdoor fun like decking up snowman and Christmas tree or having a snowball fight, just  be sure to follow the social distancing norms and have all the fun.

New Year

Travelling across the country by plane isn’t safe ; so the New year revelers celebrating the holidays away from family, may have to fill the void with Zoom parties this year. You can still bake the cookies solo and drop these under the tree at your friends porch as a surprise gift; or even better, FaceTime Santa at the North Pole instead of the dressed up Santa at the Mall.
